Terms of use
Last updated: 4 November 2026
About these terms
These terms apply when you use Codeshed: the website (codeshed.app), the Codeshed apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, and tracked codes (cshd.app), all run by Third Coffee Studio Ltd (company number 17517422, 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom). By using Codeshed you accept them. Apple’s or Google’s own terms also apply to downloading the apps and to payments.
Free to use
The Codeshed website is free, needs no account and is paid for by advertising. Without the app, you can make as many codes as you like; nothing is saved and nothing is tracked. You may use the codes, label sheets and files you make for personal or business purposes.
The free app and Codeshed Plus
- Free app: making and downloading codes is free. My codes keeps up to 5 codes, none of them tracked. The free app shows a small number of ads.
- Codeshed Plus costs £3.99 a month or £29.99 a year (or the local price shown in the store), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. It removes the ads, keeps up to 30 codes in My codes (tracked or not), adds tracked codes, and adds sticker sheets and batches, in the app and on a computer linked to it.
- The app shows the price and billing period before you buy.
Payments
Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) handles payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds, under their terms. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If you cancel during the free trial, you aren’t charged. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel it. A subscription bought in one store can’t be moved to the other.
No account, and your backups
We don’t ask for your name, email address or a password. Your codes, designs and lists are stored on your own device. Each tracked code is linked to a private key kept on your device, and in your iCloud or Google backup if you have backup turned on. That key is the only way we know which tracked codes are yours.
Keeping a backup is up to you. Turn on iCloud backup (iPhone and iPad) or Google backup (Android), or move your codes to a new phone with the app’s transfer code. If you lose your device, reset it or delete the app, and you have no backup or transfer, we can’t restore your codes or give you back control of them, because we have no account to identify you by. Tracked codes you’ve already printed or shared keep forwarding to their last saved address, but you can no longer edit them or see their scans. The app explains this before you subscribe and before you make your first tracked code.
Tracked codes
A tracked code is a QR code that opens a short address on cshd.app, which forwards to the web address you choose. You can change where it goes after printing, and see how often it’s scanned. Making and editing tracked codes needs Codeshed Plus. See the privacy policy for what each scan records.
If your subscription ends
We don’t switch off a tracked code because your subscription has ended. It keeps forwarding to its last saved address. You can’t change where it goes or see new scans until you subscribe again, and My codes keeps the codes already in it, but new ones only fit within the free plan’s 5. If we ever had to close the tracked-code service, we would give at least 12 months’ notice in the app and on codeshed.app, so you have time to replace printed codes.
Linking a computer
You can link a computer to the app by scanning the link code shown on codeshed.app. Codes you save from the linked computer go to My codes in your app, on the free plan or with Codeshed Plus. If your app has Codeshed Plus, sticker sheets and batches also open on the linked computer. Only link computers you trust, and unlink shared ones when you’re done. A link ends when you unlink it, or after 90 days without use.
Your content
You’re responsible for what you put into your codes, and for having the right to use any logo, name or image you add. Make sure links and details are correct before you print.
Barcodes, ISBNs and payment codes
Codeshed draws codes from the numbers and details you provide. We don’t issue product numbers or ISBNs: to sell in shops you need numbers licensed from GS1, and ISBNs come from your country’s ISBN agency. Check payment details carefully; we’re not responsible for payments made to details you entered.
What’s not allowed
Don’t use Codeshed for anything illegal, harmful, deceptive or infringing, including malware, phishing, scams, or content that breaks someone else’s rights.
Tracked codes we can switch off
If a tracked code breaks these rules, for example it leads to a scam, phishing or malware, or if the law requires it, we may stop it forwarding and end the subscription. To report a code, email abuse@thirdcoffeestudio.com.
Our promise
Standard codes made on the Codeshed website never expire and never depend on Codeshed. See Our promise for what we commit to.
No guarantees
We work hard to make codes that scan reliably, and we test-scan QR codes as you design them, but we can’t guarantee that every code will scan on every device or suit every purpose, or that the tracked-code service will never be interrupted. Label sheets vary between makers, so print a test page first. Always test a printed code before a large print run.
Our liability
As far as the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, lost profits or printing costs arising from using Codeshed. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Trademarks
Codeshed isn’t affiliated with Apple, Google, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Avery, Herma, GS1 or any ISBN agency. Their names are used only to describe what a code, a label sheet or a store does.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and we’ll say so in the apps for important changes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to its courts. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you keep the protections of your own country’s law.
